Save The Date: Foodphoto Festival, Carmignac Award, “Capa In Color” Exhibition & Smithsonian Contest

For three days, food photography professionals from all over the world will celebrate the third edition of the „Foodphoto Festival“ in Vejle, Denmark.

Between October 22nd and 25th food photographers will present their work, discuss trends and have the opportunity to participate in conferences and workshops. As a highlight, the „Foodphoto 2015 Awards“ will be presented at the Music Theater Vejle on October 24th.

The photography exhibitions, free of charge and open to the public, will continue after the festival for two weeks, in locations throughout Vejle. [1]


Deadline: Carmignac Gestion Photojournalism Award

The application deadline for the “7th Carmignac Photojournalism Award” ends on October 11th, 2015.

The theme of this year’s edition is “Libya” and thus the first time that the Award will focus on a conflict zone. The winning photojournalist will be supported throughout the entire project and get his or her own exhibition at the end.

Last year, Newsha Tavakolian, winner of the fifth edition, caused a small scandal by accusing the Carmignac Gestion Foundation of censorship. [2]


Exhibition: Capa In Color

If you happen to be in Budapest, or Hungary, or just Europe, you should definitely consider to make a day trip to the “Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center”. Because for the first time, Robert Capas color photographs are presented in Europe. The exhibition “Capa in Color” will end on September 20th and move on to France.

Last year, the pictures that were taken between 1938 and 1954, were exhibited in New York by the “International Center of Photography”.
The exhibition catalog contains of 205 pages and is published by Prestel. [3]




Exhibition: Absence Of The Artist

Do you know who Keith Arnatt ist? If the answer is No, you are probably not alone.
The photos of the British photographer, who was best known for photographing things everyone elso would even fail to notice, can now be seen at Sprüth Magers in London.

The Guardian calls the show „small but illuminating“ and wonders if it can „bring him the recognition he deserves“?

Contest: Smithsonian’s 2015

Time to hurry, for the „’s 2015 Photo Contest“ ends November 30th.

The annual photo contest is open to professional and amateur photographers and consists of following categories: natural world, travel, people, the American experience, altered images, mobile photos and – new this year – sustainable travel.
Since mobile photography has its own category, it is one of the greatest opportunities for smartphone photographers to show their art to the world.

The winner of the grand prize will be awarded with $2,500. [5]

You can still visit the „International Festival of Photojournalism“ until September 13th. This year, the festival, that is located throughout the city of Perpignan (France), exhibits works of photojournalists like Linsey Addario, Gerd Ludwig, Eli Reed and Goran Tomasevic. [6]
