With its new partnership ExoLens is hot on the heels of Olloclip, still the most prominent producer of smartphone lenses. But this could certainly change since ExoLens used this year’s CES to introduce the newest lenses with optics by ZEISS.
3 New Lenses
In collaboration with ZEISS, the German manufacturer of optical systems, ExoLens has developed three new lenses for its smartphone lens system. They are scheduled to launch in Q2 2016 and will be available for the iPhone 6 series.
An ExoLens Kit consists of an aluminium bracket that can be wrapped around your smartphone and a variety of lenses that are screwed into the bracket. However an Apple device is needed since ExoLens otherwise only supports Samsung Galaxy S6 (Edge).
We don’t have very much detailed information about the ZEISS optics but it seems likely that these new wide-angle, telephoto and macro lenses will also be sold in a Kit and probably won’t be much more expensive than the previous versions. If they were, buying the more sophisticated attachable lenses from Sony like the DSC-QX100 could be the more interesting option.
